I think ahead, alway allow for upgrades if applicable, plan on keeping the items, and using them for many years to come; so i buy a little above the curve, but I'm able to function beyond the average time frame of obsolescence. Case and point. my old laptop, if given an OS reload, would probably still rock and roll. It's 4 years old. But because i had to carry around all of those accessories, and the fact that it is four years old, and it could possible blow up any day now... I opted to get a new one, then to get stranded.
